2015 IEEE International Topical Meeting on Microwave Photonics
26-29 October 2015, Paphos, Cyprus
Microwave Photonics (MWP) is an inter-disciplinary field of study that concerns the interactions between microwave and optical waves for the generation, processing, control and distribution of microwave, millimeter-wave and THz-frequency signals. Microwave photonics serves as an enabling technology in a wide variety of applications such as signal generation and distribution, high-speed wireless communication networks, radar systems, sensors, and modern instrumentation. The 2015 International Topical Meeting on Microwave Photonics (MWP 2015) will provide a forum for the presentation of new advances in this multi-disciplinary research area, ranging from novel devices to system field trials.

Joint FIWIN5G and IPHOBAC-NG Winter School on Microwave Photonics
Sunday 25th October (Co-located with MWP 2015)
We are pleased to announce the Joint FIWIN5G and IPHOBAC-NG Winter School on Microwave Photonics as a complementary event to the MWP2015 meeting and also the joint FIWIN5G-MWP Workshop (to be held the following day). The aim of the Winter School is to provide advanced tutorials (of 50 minute duration) from leading experts with a track record of plenary and invited talks. A particular emphasis will be on the training of early stage researchers, although we hope that the content will also be of interest to more experienced workers in the field. Attendance will be open to regular MWP attendees in addition to FIWIN5G/IPHOBAC-NG partners. More details in due course.
For more information please view the Joint FIWIN5G and IPHOBAC-NG Winter School page.

Workshop – MWP2015 will feature a one-day workshop (Monday 26th October) that will be jointly sponsored by the EU FIWIN5G project (fiwin5g.eu) on the theme of “Role of photonic technologies for 5G and beyond”.
Organizers: Andreas Stoehr, JJ Vegas Olmos and Ken-ichi Kitayama.
FIWIN5G Winter School to be co-located with MWP2015. FIWIN5G is a new Horizon2020 project in the area of “Fiber-Wireless Integrated Networks for 5th Generation Delivery” involving ten partners across Europe. As part of the project, a two-day winter school (Sunday 25th October to Monday 26th October) will be co-located with MWP2015. The first day will consist of advanced tutorials in microwave photonics to be given by leading practitioners followed by the joint MWP2015-FIWIN5G workshop on photonics for 5G.
